The aquaculture potential for northern South America includes the production of several native species of worm water fish, and the production of rainbow trout and eyed eggs of this species. As part of an evaluation of the possibilities for aquaculture in Colombia and Venezuela, studies have been undertaken to identify the major disease problems likely to be encountered in warm water fish and salmonids, and in the investigation of methods suitable for the control of such problems. The results and conclusions of these preliminary observations are given in this paper.
