Routine examinations of pond culture pompano (Trachinotus carolinus) and striped bass (Morone saxatilis) for diseases were conducted at the Claude Peteet Mariculture Center, Gulf Shores, Alabama and on striped bass cultured in fresh water ponds at the Auburn University Agricultural Experiment Station from June, 1974 through October, 1975. Pathogenic bacteria were isolated from striped bass and pompano. Protozoan parasites were found infesting pompano in brackish water and striped bass in fresh and brackish water. The identify, level of infection and response to treatment of each disease organism is discussed.
