The two principal methods of culturing penaeid larvae and postlarvae are briefly described. In the “indoor” method algae to feed the larval shrimp are cultured separately and added to the rearing tank when needed, while in the “outdoor” method sunlight is utilized to grow phytoplankton as food in the same water with the larvae.
