ABSTRACT Aqua Dynamics Corporation was formed in 1970 for the purpose of culturing' marine species of commercial value, with initial emphasis upon the American oyster (Crassostrea virginica) and bay scallop (Aequipecten irradians). The Corporation obtains seed oysters by taking advantage of natural spawning and setting in a semi‐enclosed tidal pond. The seed is raised to marketable size in suspension, employing submerged movable racks. Scallop production will depend upon standard hatchery techniques followed by transfer to natural growing areas, but the results of this phase of the program are as yet inconclusive.
