Seven genetic systems of blood groups are currently rccognized in sheep. Their salient features are described in this report, and their relationships to blood groups in other species, especially to those of cattle, are considered. The techniques used for studies of blood groups in sheep and in cattle are mostly the same, and our knowledge of ovine blood groups has developed largely from the framework provided by earlier studies of the genetic and serological features of blood groups in cattle.
