A distinct type of ulcerative keratitis, apparently specific to the cat, and of unknown aetiology, has been noted by many authors. This condition is described and a review of the literature is provided. Clinical signs presented are analysed, together with breed, sex and age incidence, and a record of 100 cases noted over a 12 year period is provided. Earlier observations of possible causation are discussed and a note made of further investigations needed to establish the aetiology of this corneal disorder.
