Several congenital, inherited and acquired conditions of the eyelid occur in the dog, and their presence may result in disease of the conjunctiva or cornea caused by irritation or exposure. Treatment involves either the permanent relief of irritation or the construction of a palpebral fissure in which there is adequate apposition between eyelid and globe.
