Good urine output, capillary refill time and skin hydration have in the past been used as indications of a good prognosis in cases of shock. This is not necessarily the case. Over reliance on these signs can lead to faulty prognosis. Four case histories are presented of animals in shock with particular reference to the above mentioned parameters.
