SUMMARY Partial but extensive obstruction of the anterior laryngeal airway by displaced folds of glosso‐epiglottic mucosa can occur in dogs with chronic inspiratory dyspnoea, the effect being to further impair inspiration. Its occurrence in the brachycephalic types and the Chow Chow, its diagnosis and its surgical correction are described in this paper, together with some discussion of the condition as a contributory factor to laryngeal collapse in the canine species and its similarity to epiglottic entrapment in the horse.
