An aged cat was presented with a history of chronic relapsing weakness and depression. Profound hypokalaemia was detected in association with increased serum aldosterone levels and marginally subnormal plasma renin activity. A diagnosis of primary aldosteronism (Conn's syndrome) was made and the cat was successfully treated for 2 ½ months with spironolactone. When renal failure developed, the cat was destroyed and at autopsy a large adrenal cortical adenocarcinoma was found.
