SUMMARY Slit lamp examination of the canine eye can be performed with sufficient ease to warrant its use in the routine ophthalmologic examination. The use of a specially designed table facilitated the examination. Restraint of the animal has been simplified with the advent of new drugs, but manual restraint is usually sufficient.
