Shoulder Lameness in the Dog

— —Fifty cases of “shoulder lameness” examined at University of Glasgow Veterinary Hospital are reviewed. Nearly half the cases were dislocations and the methods of treatment of this condition are fully discussed. Other conditions occurred relatively infrequently but, where possible, the results of treatment have been included. Résumé— —La Clinique vétérinaire de l'Université de Glasgow a examiné cinquante sujets présentant une “épaule boiteuse”. Dans plus de 50 pour cent des cas, il s'agissait de luxations, et l'auteur approfondit l‘étude des méthodes de traitement. Il expose en outre les résultats obtenus dam le traitement des cas, relativement peu nombreux, de troubles analogues dûs à d'autres causes. Zusammenfassung— —Fünfzig Fälle von Schulterlahmheit, die im Veterinary Hospital der Universität Glasgow untersucht wurden, werden besprochen. In fast der Hälfte dieser Fälle lagen Verrenkungen vor, und die Behandlungsmethoden für diwen Zustand werden ausführlich besprochen. Andere Zustände traten relativ selten auf, aber wenn möglich wurden die Behandlungsergebnisse angegeben. SUMMARY The causes of shoulder lameness in dogs presented at University of Glasgow Veterinary Hospital, have been described and their diagnosis and treatment discussed. The long term effects of such treatment have been described when possible.
