Although calcium hydroxide dressing plays an important role in endodontic treatment, little is known about its diffusion through dentine. This report, based on the MDSc. thesis of Alan Nerwich was financially supported by the ASE. It summarises an investigation of the diffusion of hydroxyl ions, derived from a calcium hydroxide dressing, through the human tooth root over time. A complete description can be found in Journal of Endodontics, Vol 19, No 6, June 1993.
