Public Accounts Committees in the Pacific Region

Building on the work of Jacobs, Jones, Wehner, Pelizzo, and Stapenhurst, this article addresses an issue that had been left unaddressed by previous research: the relationship between the organization, the activity, and the performance of Public Accounts Committees (PACs). By analyzing an original data set, this article explores whether and how certain organizational features affect the amount of activities performed by PACs and how these, in their turn, affect PACs' ability to achieve policy‐relevant results. Construyendo por un lado sobre el trabajo de Jacobs, Jones, Wehner, y Pelizzo, y por otro, en el de Stapenhurst, este trabajo aborda un tema que ha sido dejado de lado por investigaciones previas: la relación entre la organización, la actividad, y el desempeño de los Comités de Cuentas Públicas (PACs, por sus siglas en inglés). Al analizar un nuevo conjunto de datos, este articulo explora si, características organizacionales y cómo afectan estas la cantidad de actividades realizadas por los Comités de Cuentas Públicas y cómo la cantidad de actividades de las PACs afecta la habilidad de dichos comités para lograr resultados políticos relevantes.
