I would like the Commission to make particularly strong recommendations, including realistic implementation strategies, on the necessity for comprehensive health education and health promotion in the schools. Rob Mathias of the Commission staff has been trying for the last few months to schedule your testimony before the Commission so that all Commissioners could have the benefjt of your views on this subject. Since it appears that a mutually satisfactory date cannot be found, I would greatly appreciate your submitting to the Commission a formal statement in this area. If you agree, it would be my intention to use your thoughts as guidelines for drafting that portion of our final report concerning educational initiatives for our nation's school children.
