ABSTRACT This study examined and compared the importance of specific competencies for bachelor's level and master's level school health educators in Florida. A survey instrument utilizing a five‐point scale was administered to 69 respondents to ascertain the importance of 135 competencies in the areas of administration, evaluation, general health knowledge, and communication. Results of the analysis of data indicate that bachelor's level health educators require competencies necessary for the direct delivery of health instruction, while master's level health educators need to possess specific competencies in administration and evaluation.
