Sylvester Graham of Graham Cracker fame revolutionized health practices, fought against the use of white bread and suggested sexual abstinence. John Harvey Kellogg, an MD and a vegetarian, suggested certain health practices like vigorous chewing of food, invented medical hardware and preached sexual abstinence. The influence of both on the health education of their time and on that of future generations is both interesting and of historical importance.
