Research of related literature indicated that disagreement existed among professionals as to the causes, diagnoses, treatments and descriptors of hyperactivity. A questionnaire was developed to compare the responses of a group of pediatricians, and a group of master's degree candidates in special education (79.18% of whom were teachers with an average of 4.72 years of teaching experience) on four variables relating to hyperactivity diagnoses, etiology, treatments, and labels. Significant differences between the two groups were noted in their responses to the dependent measures.
