One of the obligations of offerors in the preparation of proposed standards for the Consumer Product Safety Commission is to include consumer representatives on the standards‐writing committee. This report describes Underwriters Laboratories Inc.'s problems in identifying consumer representatives and its experience with consumer representation on the committee preparing a proposed television receiver safety standard.
