We show that in the case of semiconfined aquifers the ratio of steady‐state drawdown to its gradient with respect to the logarithm of radial distance from the pumping well, i.e. s m /(δs m /δ log 10 r), determines the transmissivity of the aquifer. A new method for evaluation of aquifer parameters utilizing this principle is proposed. As the method does not involve curve matching, it avoids subjectivity. We illustrate the method with an example.
