A numerical model for analyzing pumping tests is used to estimate the transmissivity and the storage coefficient from abstraction well‐water levels measured during both the abstraction and recovery phases. The technique is applied to a practical test. In addition, an ideal test is devised and the technique is used to give satisfactory estimates of the parameters.
