SUMMARY Purchasing and supply management (PSM) has gained a great deal of attention in recent years as both a source of cost savings (Ellram 1996) and a source of competitive advantage (Fine 1998). This article attempts to link PSM best practices to corporate success. The article begins with an introduction and a brief survey of the literature. The research method is presented, followed by a discussion of the hypotheses tested. Next, the results of the research are presented and discussed. The article concludes with managerial and research implications.
