Gamma irradiation (0.03 kGy ± 25%) effects on onions bulbs from local cultivar were studied. The treatment proved to be effective in reducing weight loss and increasing the percentage marketable bulbs. Radiation‐induced darkening in marketable irradiated bulbs had no influence on their inner aspect.
