In the November 1983 issue of this Journal, Adamowicz and Phillips (hereafter ASP) compare several methods for evaluating the recreational benefits of fishing in Alberta. Unfortunately, their analysis exhibits a number of theoretical and methodological errors which reflect upon the usefulness of their empirical results. I point out four major problems.
