This paper undertakes to analyze some of the determinants of rapeseed acreage. A general descriptive picture of rapeseed and the rapeseed market is given initially, followed by a presentation of an economic model for the supply of rapeseed in acres. Some suggestions for altering and extending the scope of the model are also given. Conclusions are drawn concerning the management capabilities of rapeseed growers and the price elasticity of rapeseed. Le but de cet article est ďanalyser quelques facteurs déterminant la superficie de colza. On dresse un tableau descriptif de la culture et du marché du colza suivi ďun modele économique ‐uisant à déterminer la superficie de colza. On y va également de quelques suggestions quant àľutilisation généralisée du modéle en question. ľauteur tire des conclusions sur la capacityé de gestion des producteurs, ainsi que sur ľélasticité des prix du colza.
