This paper brings attention to important issues bearing as grain transportation in Canada and research implications. Critical issues considered are: the grain delivery quota system, grades, rail line abandonment, export port problems and potentials, new grain transport technology and rate regulation. While a number of improvements are suggested the need for a hard objective evaluation of the total grain transportation system is strongly stressed, so as to develop an optimum system .
