This paper deals with the genus Limnophora Robineau‐Desvoidy of China, including generic diagnosis, ecology and affinities; and a key to 49 Chinese species (male) and distributions are given. It is known that the species of Limnophora in the Palaearctic region of China is similar to that in the Oriental region of China. Descriptions of two new species, L. biprominens, L. latifrons are given; L. beckeri Stein 1907 is a new record to China; and L. guizhouensis Zhou et Xue, 1987 is revised to L. pubiseta Emden, 1965. The type specimens are deposited in the Institute of Entomology, Shenyang Normal College.
