The present work introduces the laser sintering as a novel and cost‐effective production process for ultrapure quartz glass crucibles. By employing CO 2 laser systems, providing a power output of up to 12 kW, large SiO 2 crucible preforms are sintered to graded structures with no contamination and without any change in geometry.
