SUMMARY The effects of gibberellin A 3 (GA 3 ) application on five white clover populations was assessed in both glasshouse and controlled environments. Daylength, temperature and GA 3 interactions were also examined. Gibberellin A 3 did not induce vegetative plants to flower when daylength and temperature requirements were not met. In flowering plants, GA 3 increased the number of reproductive buds per stolon and peduncle length, but did not affect other floral characters. Gibberellin A 3 depressed total stolon numbers, but increased the number of nodes per stolon, internode length, leaf area and petiole length.
