SUMMARY The ability of the locusts, Locusta migratoria and Schistocerca gregaria , to disseminate Colletotrichum graminicola , the fungal pathogen of maize anthracnose, were studied. The insects were fed with the diseased plants and spores were recovered in viable condition from the faeces. The spores recovered were able to grow on artificial media and were still infectious to the host plant.
