SUMMARY The series of 6‐mono and di‐methyl and mono‐ and di‐methoxy benzyloxypurines have been prepared and tested for cytokinin activity in a number of biological tests. The 2‐methyl and 3‐methoxy derivatives were more active than the unsubstituted compound but substitution into any other position led to a decrease in activity. Di‐substitution also caused a lowering of activity particularly with the di‐methoxy compounds.
