SUMMARY A single spray of tridemorph on 1 June almost doubled leaf area index of Zephyr barley during much of the second half of June. Increases in leaf area duration before ear emergence seemed important in these plots, because they yielded much better than plots sprayed on 11 June although differing little from them in leaf area duration after ear emergence.
