SUMMARY The suitabilities of eleven chemical aphicides were compared for application to plants on which biological control of Tetranychus urticae by Phytoseiulus persimilis was in progress. It was concluded that currently used aphicides offer insufficient selectivity to provide a basis for integrated control programmes, although some older insecticides may have value.
