SUMMARY Evidence from field observations suggests that where stamen blight ( Hapalosphaeria deformans Syd.) is prevalent dissemination of spores by wind may account for the establishment of the disease in initially healthy plantations. Captan and dichlofluanid were equally effective in significantly decreasing the level of disease.
