SUMMARY In general, more migratory plant‐parasitic nematodes are found in soil under cereals drilled after ploughing than in unploughed land drilled after being sprayed with weed‐killer; but some non‐parasitic nematodes are more numerous in the unploughed, herbicide‐sprayed soil. Spraying a mixture of DDT, diazinon, chlordane and thionazin on the soil before drilling did not affect populations of soil nematodes.
