SUMMARY The commonest Thysanoptera in mass flights between ground level and 1000 ft. in south‐east England are females of species dwelling on grasses and cereals. Individuals with immature ovaries probably disperse over the greatest distances. Aerial densities as large as 60,000 thrips per 10 6 cu. ft. were recorded.
