Laboratory, greenhouse and seed‐bed trials of copper and organic fungicides for the control of Colletotrichum tabacum on tobacco were made in Southern Rhodesia. In the seed‐bed trials the best control was obtained by sprays of maneb, thiram, zineb and captan. During the hot, dry weather in the early part of the season little damage was caused by the disease and it was easier to control than later, when rain and overcast weather were more frequent. Mixtures of zineb and copper compounds gave better control than either component alone. When seed‐beds were covered with light cloth for shade, they suffered greater damage from the disease than when a thin grass mulch was used.
