SUMMARY1 Two organisms have been isolated which are capable of producing an internal rot of at least five varieties of cotton bolls. 2 Inoculation experiments and resulting physiological phenomena are described and the similarity between the two rots demonstrated. 3 The association of one organism with the anthracnose fungus is pointed out and dual infection of a number of varieties of cotton bolls discussed; the resistance of Sea Island and Cauto varieties to the disease is suggested. 4 Detailed descriptions of both organisms and their reactions to various standard media are given.
