SUMMARY An internal soft rot of potato tubers caused by B. carotovorus is described. Various strains of B. phytophthorus, B. solanisaprus and B. carotovorus are compared with respect to their cultural, pathological and serological behaviour, and the differences seem sufficient to warrant their continued separation into distinct species.
