Summary A n experimental group of 10 foremen were given intensive training in time study procedures; and changes in knowledge concerning time study, handling of time study problems in their departments and attitudes toward time study were compared with a control group of 11 foremen who did not receive the training. Significant improvements in knowledge, handling time study problems, and possibly attitudes toward time study occurred in the experimental group but not in the control group. The control group, subsequently given similar training, showed the same type of improvement as the experimental group. It is concluded that an intensive workshop course in time study can modify the behavior of foremen in their work with time study problems in their departments in the textile industry.
