To spark productive and continuing dialogue, good conversation needs to end with a light touch, yet one that whets the appetite for more. Nursing Forum honors this dictum by giving “The Last Word” for this issue to Ms. R. Kane, a registered nurse at a small, unnamed hospital in an obscure community. Ms. Kane has been troubled for some time by nursing theories that either elude her comprehension or ignore salient realities. She has elected to address this problem by developing a collection of mid‐range theories she believes will improve this situation.
