The only nursing organization whose major focus is the psychiatric mental health needs of severly emotionally disturbed children, adolescents and their families and the promotion of mental health of children, adolescents, and their families, has turned 20 this year. The author's purpose is to review the history and accomplishments of Advocates for Child Psychiatric Nursing, Inc. (ACPN), and to make some projections for future action by this nursing specialty organization.
