problem . HOW do family members perceive their loved one's clozapine treatment and what recommendations do they put forth for other families, clients, and health professionals. methods . An exploratory descriptive design was used. A convenience sample of 10 families from the “Alliance for the Mentally Ill” responded in an audiotaped personal interview to eight items on an intmiew guide. Data were analyzed by the doublecoding qualitative method. findings . Family members have specific concerns about their loved one's clozapine treatment. conclusion . Forming an alliance with family members of clients receiving clozapine will encourage optimal treatment effectiveness.
