Communication in enhancing cotherapists' therapeutic effectiveness in family/couples work is of vital importance. Drawing on interactional communication theory, the author stresses the symmetrical relationship necessary for a therapeutic cotherapy relationship. Two illustrations demonstrate the potential advantages of employing the Group Coleader's Inventory as a formal communication tool to facilitate an egalitarian relationship between therapists.
