Overtly psychotic patients can be managed in a flexible psychotherapy group. Specific guidelines for admission to the group coupled with special consideration and techniques by the group therapists contributed to the success of one such group. The patients were part of an unusually accommodating and tolerant group experience, which became an opportunity for active therapeutic endeavors to help the patients overcome psychotic mechanisms.
