SUMMARY Lymphocyte subset quantification can be performed directly in unseparated anticoagulated blood by means of immunomagnetic (IM) particles. The method is fast and reliable and so simple as to be employable in small laboratories. This article reviews the method in detail and describes the results obtained with the IM quantification method in some clinical situations.
