SUMMARY Immnoglobulin allotypes (Gm) were analysed in 40 multiple sclerois (MS) patients and the distribution of phenotypes compared to that in 1220 healthy controls. The frequencies of Gm(1) and Gm(1, 2) are significantly increased in the patietns suggesting that the presence of the Gm 3;5,13,14 haplotype confers a resistance to the development of MS.
