SUMMARY Dorso‐ventral vaginal septa were observed in congenic mouse strains. Strain C57BL/10Sn, H‐2 b , had the highest frequency, 22%; B10.A/SgSn, H‐2 a , had the lowest frequency, 4%, P <0.001. The frequency was about 17% in the F 1 , females. Septa were found in 16% and 15% of the B10.D2/nSn and B10.BR/SgSn strains, respectively, indicating that at least two loci within the H‐2 complex influence its frequency.
