SUMMARY Precipitating anti‐allotype sera were raised in chickens by intravenous immunization with antibody‐ Bordetella pertussis complexes, and the following allotype systems were established: Gl—an IgG class‐specific marker localized on electrophoretically heterogeneous IgG fractions; M1—an IgM class‐specific marker which is carried also on the 7S monomer produced by reduction‐alkylation; Ll—a highdensity lipoprotein marker. The incidence of antigens in the three allotype systems was examined in chickens of various strains whereby four G1 and three M1 specificities were demonstrated. The cross‐reactivities between antigens within the G1 and M1 systems indicate that they are products of multiple allelic genes.
