In response to a questionnaire survey, health workers (N=371) from the Chinese, German, Greek, Italian, Arabic speaking and Anglo Australian communities reported the reactions to health services of aged people in their communities. Significant community differences were found in the evaluation of IS of the 18 aspects of health services examined. In all ethnic communities mainstream services received higher ratings than did services specifically for non‐English speaking patients. Communities with a shorter history in Australia tended to value services more highly.
